PEI Business Spotlight: Fromagerie PEI
Fromagerie PEI, based in Mont Carmel, Prince Edward Island, makes snack-sized bags of cheese curds – better known as squeaky cheese – called Squeak-ies. Fromagerie PEI’s founder, Mathieu Gallant, grew up on a dairy farm, and after studying farm business management in Quebec, he was inspired to combine his interest in on-farm processing and his passion in cheese-making to make cheese curds back home to Prince Edward Island.
With help from Innovation PEI’s Capital Acquisition Assistance program, Mathieu was able to invest in equipment needed to grow Fromagerie PEI and its product offerings.

“We have great products, but we also have great people. I could easily move my business elsewhere, closer to the bigger markets, but my biggest asset is the people I have around me and who work with me. “
