The Snake World Premiere at SXSW
The new dark comedy feature film, directed by Jenna MacMillan and produced by Sharlene Kelly of Club Red Productions, was written by, and stars Susan Kent in the lead role. This film represents a monumental milestone for Kelly, MacMillan, and the casting crew who worked on the Snake. 🌟⠀
The Snake will have its World Premiere at the South by Southwest Festival SXSW in Austin, Texas in March 2026.
The film was proudly shot in Charlottetown last spring, and produced with the support of Telefilm Canada and Innovation PEI.
The Hon. Gilles Arsenault, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Artificial Intelligence said in a recent news release “This achievement is a testament to the vision, hard work, and tenacity of this Island team and their belief in the PEI film industry. From initial concept to production to international acclaim, The Snake shows that our Island is not just a pretty backdrop; it is a powerhouse of creativity and talent where storytellers can bring their vision to life.” ⠀
