PEI Arts Grants Recipient Ashley Anne Clark inspires a love of nature with new book, Water and Wildlife.
Ashley Anne Clark is a mixed media artist from New Glasgow, Prince Edward Island whose work is deeply inspired by the natural world. Drawing on themes of wilderness, animal life, and the raw elements of nature, Ashley often incorporates materials such as seaweed, sand, and tree branches into her artwork.
“I like to highlight biodiversity,” says Ashley, “the importance of the different relationships animals have with each other and the land.”
With support from the PEI Arts Grants program, Ashley was able to dedicate time to completing her second children’s book, Water and Wildlife. Featuring her original artwork, the book explores the many ways animals rely on water to survive, play, travel, and thrive.
Ashley has partnered with PEI-based publisher Pownal Street Press to bring the book to life. “They have been super helpful throughout the publishing process and navigating the book world,” she said.
Through both her art and storytelling, Ashley hopes to inspire young readers to have a deeper appreciation for nature and understand the importance of protecting the environment for future generations.
Water and Wildlife is available for pre-order on Amazon and Indigo and it is expected to hit shelves this fall.
The Fall 2026 PEI Arts Grants call for applications will open on Monday, September 21 at 12 p.m. and close on Monday, October 19 at 4 p.m.
