SUMMARY:PEI Seafood Trade Mission to China 2026
DESCRIPTION:Innovation PEI is inviting export-ready seafood companies to express interest in participating an upcoming PEI Seafood Trade mission to China\, centered around the China Fisheries & Seafood Expo (CFSE)\, Oct. 28-30\, 2026. \n\n\nDates: October 28 – November 4\, 2026 \n\n\nLocation: Qingdao & Shanghai\, China \n\n\nWhy Participate: \n\n\nExposure in Asia’s largest seafood trade show through co-exhibiting at PEI’s provincial booth within the Canada Pavilion.\nNetworking sessions designed to facilitate direct connections with qualified Chinese importers and distributors.\nAccess to value-added programs organized by the Trade Commissioner Service based in China.\nSimplified logistics with China’s visa-free entry policy for Canadian citizens.\n\n\nTo shield Canada from the volatile U.S. tariff policies\, the Canadian government has adopted a pragmatic\, risk-hedging trade strategy toward China. This shift is anchored by signing of the Canada-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Roadmap\, a milestone agreement establishing a strategic partnership focused on agriculture\, clean energy\, and climate competitiveness. Through this framework\, Canada aims to increase exports to China by 50% by 2030 as part of a broader push to double Canada’s overall non-U.S. global exports. To further facilitate trade and tourism\, the Chinese government has implemented a visa-free entry policy for Canadian citizens from February 17 to December 31\, 2026. This significant update simplifies the logistics for this mission\, allowing exporters to travel with greater ease and reduced administrative costs. \n\n\nChina continues to be one of the largest producer and consumer for the global fish and seafood industry. The market is characterized by a growing preference for high-quality\, value-added products driven by increasing per capita disposable income and changing dietary preferences towards healthier and more diverse food choices. As Asia’s largest seafood trade show\, CFSE attracts over 42\,000 professional visitors from 136 countries. It remains a flagship show for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC). \n\n\nMission Program: \n\n\nCFSE Trade Show: Co-Exhibiting at PEI’s provincial booth within the Canada Pavilion from October 28-30 in Qingdao.\nSustainable Seafood Session & Panel: A conference targeted at key Chinese importers\, processors\, and buyers to showcase the quality and sustainability of the Canadian brand in Qingdao.\nExport Café & Networking Reception: A dinner and networking session designed to facilitate direct connections with qualified Chinese importers and distributors in Qingdao.\nShanghai & Yangtze River Delta Export Cafe (Nov 2–4): A 2-day targeted program in Shanghai and surrounding areas that includes site tours of wholesale markets\, retail outlets\, and B2B meetings with major importers. Ground transportation and interpretation services will be provided.\n\n\nParticipation Flexibility: \n\n\nExporters have the flexibility to customize their itinerary based on their business needs. You may choose to participate in the Qingdao program (CFSE)\, the Shanghai Export Café leg\, or both programs. \n\n\nThe participation fee is $2\,000 CAD per company counter within PEI booth. \n\n\nIncludes: Full booth graphics\, equipment\, furniture\, interpreters\, and on-site support.\n\n\nFunding Support: \n\n\nInnovation PEI’s Export Trade Assistance can cover up to 60% of eligible travel-related expenses for eligible participating companies from PEI.
